It doesn't even depend what season, the answer is NYC. I've lived both places. New York is so easy to get around. You can do the touristy things and the non. The city is a grid and near impossible to lose your bearings. Neither are cheap, but bang for your buck is still the city. Plus you can stay out later, while still getting started at the same time. LA's only plus is you can learn how to surf.

Go see Saturday Night Live.

Metro LA > Metro NY though

There is nothing about LA that interests me.

I've never been to L.A., but it seems like it would be a hard place to just fly into out of the blue as a tourist and have an enjoyable time in. In NYC that's a piece of cake to do.

Never been to New York City so I can't give a definitive answer, but when I went to LA, it was awesome as hell. Great great city with a lot to do, sunshine and beaches, as well as being within drivers distance to San Diego, Las Vegas, and some other national parks. I want to go back to LA again sometime in the future. I do also want to go to New York too.

Depends on what part of LA. I live in Seal Beach in between Huntington Beach and Long Beach. I love it and can't imagine living anywhere else at this point.

NYC. You can walk around NYC with ease. Tons of little neighborhoods within a metropolis. LA embodies every big city stereotype of endless highways, traffic, concrete jungle, etc. Plus NYC has it beat in every way when it comes to food, music, etc.

As far as a visit goes, NYC is head and shoulders above L.A., and it really isn't even a discussion. L.A. might honestly be a better place to live day-in and day-out, but for a week of pleasure, L.A. isn't even in the top five in the U.S., and NYC is without a doubt at the very top.
I'd put the following all above L.A. as far as vacation cities in America (in this order):
NYC
San Francisco
Chicago
Las Vegas
DC
New Orleans
Austin
Miami
Boston
Seattle
I'd put Denver, San Diego, and Charleston as its near peers as far as tourist destinations go. You'd get bored in L.A. after a few days, though the nice thing is that a lot of other really cool shite is pretty close.
L.A. is a pretty damn great place to live; don't get me wrong on that. The L.A. suburbs and Orange County are as good as it gets for quality of life in America. There just isn't all that much there to see and do compared to other major metro areas in the States.

As someone that has lived their whole life in LA and has been to nyc a bunch of times....
Hands down no questions asked NYC is by far the better place to visit.
If the question was where is a better place to live than its more of a tossup as LA has better weather, beaches and other outdoors stuff. Plus we are close to Vegas, Palm Springs, San Diego and Santa Barbara which is nice for little weekend getaways. La is a great place to live because of all the variety, but I have zero idea why anyone would want to vacation here.

I've been to both about a half a dozen times each and it's NYC easily.
Oh and kingbob is an idiot and I can guarantee dukee v has never been to either so his opinion is just as worthless.

Abu your list is spot on. I'd recommend someone go visit any of those cities before they visited LA.

for a week NYC. to move LA.
you can't make a dent in LA in a week. things have to be sought out in LA with help and experience.
now if you have a super close friend tourguide, LA except spring and fall

LA has great food but NYC has it beat. I guess you can say LA has better Mexican options but NYC beats it in every other way.
Overall as just a city, NYC shits on LA.
