The guy who committed this crime shouldn't be here. You're not going to stop all crime, but surprise surprise that open borders result in other countries emptying their prisons and asylums and dumping those folks here.

Statistically, illegals are no more prone to commit violent crime than US citizens. That's not said in support of a lax border (that's irresponsibly dumb policy), rather to say I find the fact dude was an illegal pretty irrelevant the fact someone committed a fricking sick crime imo. Its good for extra clicks though!

An illegal sets fire to a woman in NYC and you justify it by saying “Americans also do bad things” as if that is relevant whatsoever.

This talking point makes no sense to me. You can't deport an American citizen based on the likelihood of a future crime. But you can prevent crime by illegal immigrants by having a responsible immigration policy. When the people committing the crimes shouldn't have been here in the first place, there should be more outrage by citizens of the country being invaded.

The story isn't fake.

I'm not sure the video is real, though.

Fine. You downplay it. Your people always run to that irrelevant talking point. Illegal kills someone? No worries, Americans also sometimes kill people so let’s let in murderous illegals.

this is not a valid excuse for the crime levels today in NYC.
Perhaps not, but they are vastly lower than at times in the past.

In 2023, there were less than 400 murders. In the 2021 covid spike year there were like 485.

In 1963, there were 850.

In 1973, there were 2040.

In 1983, there were 1958.

In 1993, there were 2420.

It's unclear what you think the standard ought to be, but under 400 is almost unimaginably low. Those are NOT population-adjusted numbers. So, murder down 50 - 90% AND a much bigger population...and you're complaining about crime in NYC?

It's almost like yall are low-info Karens triggered by sensational one-off incidents - pretending as if there aren't any number of things like this all throughout the year from all over the country we couldn't wring our hands about.

fair, we still seem to be skirting the underlying point by focusing on total NYC crime statistics.

this happened and was committed by someone who had no business being here. it was completely and easily avoidable. or are we going to play along w/mmmmmbeer’s? ‘this could have been done by anyone’ charade? so we should disregard it

Of course this is a terrible crime.

But its a tired trope when something happens in a big city, all the simps here rush to their keyboards with "NYC has fallen"

This happened near the end of a line in Brooklyn, an hour away from Manhattan- what most people here recognize as NYC. I could scour news headlines for 15 seconds and find horrible shite in New Orleans, which is about 1/10th the size of NYC.

I'm heading to NYC with my wife and kids this spring, and hope you pussies stay south of I-10, less people in line for Broadway, Serendipity, and Keens.

I find this hard to believe. This board is always so overwhelmingly positive about New Orleans.

Similar sentiments. Having grown up in a smaller town, i thought it would be great to live in a big city.

Fun to visit. My neice lives on Long Island and worked for Glaxo-Smith_Klein. She enjoyed it but ceased doing it.

Some places in New York are fun and enjoyable. Central Park. Museum of natural art an science. A few hifi stores.

Live there? Hell no.

Even if it were true that illegals commit crimes at the same rate as Americans, they overwhelm all public services which can only lead to more crime.

Ive yet to hear anyone justify allowing millions of unvetted immigrants to pour into our country. It’s not like we couldn’t have achieved massive immigration numbers if we advertised worldwide we were allowing in any law abiding healthy young person. We could just give them a quick background check, IQ test, Physical exam.

Additionally, any OT 6 or above can enter if she can pass 2/3 of the tests.
