There are kids with GPA's higher than a 4.0.
This has been a thing for a long time. My cum high school GPA was something like 4.65

Kids are taking it 6+ times to boost their averaged score.
My 12-point ACT progression! (First time to super score) Don't give up, it's possible for you to improvement like this too

I don't really have a problem with the Superscore. Those are scores that you earned. They just weren't all in the same sitting.
I do have a problem with the flagship school being ACT test optional.

This has become the norm just about everywhere.

A lot of states have moved to test being optional if you have a certain GPA that’s generally for in-state students. And of course, everyone has high GPAs because of all the rework they allow.

Sadly, it's a reflection that higher ed is more concerned with tuition dollars than recruiting and educating the best and brightest.
It's a waterfall effect. LSU goes test optional and now accepts students that would normally go to ULL, Southeastern, Southern, etc. In an effort for those schools to stay afloat since a huge chunk of their normal students now go to LSU, they have to become test optional in order to accept students that they normally turn down.
All it takes is for a few big dog schools to set it in motion and then it's like dominoes falling. LSU is watering down their flagship status and the smaller schools are admitting kids that probably shouldn't be in a 4 year university. Ultimately, it will be the kids who suffer. They are accumulating debt for loans when it's quite possible they will never get a degree. But it looks like paying student loans is optional so who knows who will ultimately pay for all this.

Wouldn't it be nice to know the ACT score of EVERY entering freshman? Only the kids with good ACT scores are turning them in.
People fall for the "highest achieving class" silliness with these inflated ACT averages and don't take into account that only a fraction of incoming freshman turn them in. LSU doesn't have the authority to just go into ACT and grab scores. A student has to release them to the university.
Also, high schools vary WILDLY on academic difficulty and even grading scales. IMO, the ACT should have subject-level tests that are given all 4 years of high school and then that is your "high school score" and that's it. Writing should be mandatory with 2-3 neutral readers. This is the only way to compare students.

It has reversed a lot in the last year.

Wow, just wow .
My grandparents would be aghast.
Grandma told me when she attended LSU the female students were not allowed to wear pants of any type. Also they had to be in the dorm by 9 PM on week day nights and the dorm mom took attendance.
There are reasons for customs and traditions.
I was in engineering and I did not have much time for partying. I worked during spring breaks and I graduated without any student debt.
Guess I had a dull ,boring college student life.

I want to condemn the behavior and then the practical side of me thinks back to the shite I did at LSU and I realize I have no room to talk. They are college kids. They are going to do dumb, tasteless stuff.
The difference is the kids on the ground haven’t started their careers and the dancer is almost done with hers.
Looks don’t last forever.
