I've stated this many times on the Poli Board and will mention it here:

NPR went off a cliff the day Donald Trump won the presidency.

I used to listen to NPR every morning for the last 12 years or so. They generally gave impartial reporting on most issues. While they weren't overly critical of Obama or Bush, they still had critical pieces on both parties. Their guest were always top shelf experts and the All Things Considered topics weren't the SJW topic de jour. It is totally unlistenable now. I can't even turn that shite on without getting mad and having to turn it.

If you find a truly impartial news outlet, please let me know. They are all Infotainment outlets at this point all pushing political agendas.

I guess

But NPR employs "hard news" people who are out and out activists, like Tamara Keith and Nina Totenberg (and many, many others).

The idea that real news is siloed just isn't reality. Nor is it reality for any network or cable news outlet. They all bleed over in things like story selection and tone. Peruse a random NPR journalist twitter account and that'll become very apparent.

really like the Americana Music show followed by Movie Soundtracks, and then Showmusic show lineup on Sunday evenings.

I too like this programming. I like the classical as well. I've always thought the news was left leaning but still somewhat ok to listen to. The shite as of late is absurd though.

You sound like my Dad. For decades he’s listened to NPR to and from work. Loved it. Bored me to tears when we’d ride with him. He’s started listening to podcasts now because how ridiculous and left leaning NPR has gone.

I admit I only started listening when I moved from the northeast and started driving again about 10 years ago, but it was complete rubbish from that point on

How the frick did that happen?

I think most normal people just like the fact that he allows open discussions from multiple points of view, but I wouldn't expect a liberal to understand that.

It’s incredible that it’s tax payer funded to begin with considering how engrained on one side of the political aisle it has become. I don’t want to pay for that shite or PBS.

PBS is much better than NPR. Even though it can be dull, the news hour is the best source of straight news I know
