About $200 total, would have given more but there was a number of times they weren't outside my grocery store. I think the SA is the one of the best charities going.

I didn’t put a dime in Salvation Army buckets this year. There’s two reasons for this.

1. I did most of my shopping online so I came across Salvation Army buckets like two or three times.

2. I rarely carry cash or even pocket change.

Non to Salvation Army. Check out how much their ceo gets paid.

Apparently you haven't done your homework. Their CEO and his wife receive a salary $13,000 per year and housing worth approximately $34,00 per year. That's for managing a $2 billion dollar organization. Don't make the mistake of confusing what you have heard about the Red Cross and United Way CEOs with what the Salvation Army does.

I toured the SA Family Center in Houston several years ago. The woman (I'm guessing she was in her 70's) that ran that place is without a doubt the most impressive human being I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. I've been gladly giving to the SA ever since.

I drop a $20 every time I visit a store with a kettle around the holiday season....probably $60 - 480 total. Everyone should volunteer to ring the bell at some point...you would be very surprised who donates and who doesn’t.

I was telling my wife the other day that I have not seen any bell ringers this year.

Send them a check every year. Say Merry Christmas back to their guys and gals, but don't donate at the stores.

I usually slip whatever loose cash I have under $5 when I see one. Only saw em twice this year though and didnt have cash once. I think the other time I had like $4 and some change.

I didn't see but a couple this year, I did see a sign outside a Salvation Army, that said they were hiring bell ringers 10$ an hour.

Maybe there was a shortage.....

How much is the allowable cash donation without a receipt on my tax returns? Probably that much.

I was going to post something similar. I think that the poster you responded to is confused.
