“Hair Nah,” which was created by Momo Pixel, is an interactive game that allows you to design your character, and the goal is to smack away as many white hands as you can. And since its launch, it’s been the talk of social media:

Level 1 (Allicia) was super easy. Level 2 (Anber) proved more challenging, but not too difficult. Level 3 (Calnisha), I can't get past. 4 (Charlenae) and 5 (Dashnique) look damn near impossible.

I've never had an urge to touch a black woman's hair before

Yes.

Mashable - Full Story

quote:

Lay off her hair.

Portland-based creative Momo Pixel has created a game called Hair Nah, in response to women constantly touching her hair.

In the game, you play a black woman who's on her way to catch a flight. What's stopping her from boarding? People incessantly touching her hair.

quote:

The purpose of the game is pretty simple. Swat as many hands off as they make their way towards your head.

Players also get to customise their hairstyle and skin tone.

quote:

"Who I’m really hoping to get are those women and men who may not really be paying attention to their actions or don’t see them as offensive," she says. "I hope they see themselves in this game and be like, 'Oh my God.' And then from there stop doing it."

Heard that this summer from a black colleague at a conference. I had no idea that it’s a big no no for anyone to touch their hair.

To be fair, it's typically not even hair.

I'm really surprised that this is a thing...it just sounds...strange.

ETA: watching them "slap-scratch" always made me feel conflicted.

Do people really ask to touch black girl's hair that much? I've never once looked at any black person and thought, "I wonder if they'll let me touch their hair?"

How weird.

Have you never seen a black woman patting her head to get at an itch without screwing up her do? If she's willing to go through that, she sure as hell doesn't want your hands all up in there.

I was actually told that it has to do with how brittle their hair tends to be because of all the products they use to keep it from being so curly.

When I lived in Gentilly my house phone number was similar to a beauty parlor in the neighborhood. I was getting phone calls at 3 in the morning checking to see if they could come in for a cut. I have heard that these places do a 24 hour open then close for a few days. I did have the number changes. As far as touching a black women's hair I am afraid of the smell of the chemicals, the smell is nauseating..
