but its the mentality of wearing a mask that started this very thread

It's fine if people decide to wear a mask, but don't try to guilt or force other people to wear them.

everyone forgets all about it and it spreads like wildfire

Complete speculation. Just like all the other models that were completely wrong.

super virus impervious tough guys In here cant rationalize that.

We haven't seen those super virus numbers, but let's continue to live in fear.

Where do you work that you are exposed to contagious diseases everyday and are not required to wear a mask?

Why, so you can call and try to get me fired when I trigger you?

Where do you work?

It’s just an attempt to appeal to some residual reasoning that might be lurking in people’s brains In hopes they turn it on by accident.

Well of course it is, as is yours that it won’t, but it’s also very plausible, especially if people are irresponsible, which I have no doubt in my mind they will be. The greater the irresponsibility, the greater the chances of this taking place, and the greater chance of a secondary shut down, and we simply can not afford that, but its very likely to happen If things spike.

I’m not living in fear. I’m living with a healthy dose of caution and respect for it. You’d be wise to do likewise.

So far, every doomsday model has been completely wrong. The rate of infection and mortality numbers were severely exaggerated.

I hear ya, and glad for it too, but whether that’s from social distancing or it was exaggerated is of no consequence if the numbers spike when we open it up because the thinking is that it’s the opening up that caused it, and so back we go into shut down. That’s why it’s important we act responsibly so it doesn’t spike. I don’t care who’s right and who’s wrong. I just want to make fricking money to pay bills, live life, and save for retirement, and if wearing a mask gets me there, then I’m gonna be a mask wearing MFer.

Great. I don't think a single person on here has tried to convince you not to wear it. What's your beef?

So it's not just "leave me alone so I can wear my mask" - you want to make others wear it as well, I guess? No thanks.

Some of you people really suffer from either laziness or reading comprehension, I’m not sure which.

Encouraging people to use their heads isn’t the same as mandating. Ours is a free country, but what freedom really depends upon is that free people using their heads, and when they don’t, it leaves room for authoritarian rule, because it’s the only thing that can save them from destroying themselves.

If you have an at-risk person in your home, shouldn't you want people to wear masks?

Not sure why masks are now political. Get an American flag one like Pompeo wore in Isreal yesterday. Or better yet Camo! Show your redneck pride!

So wear a mask “voluntarily” or you’ll make me? You sound like a reasonable person who should be making important decisions.

It is what our society has become. Too many people just pick a team and follow that crowd. They retreat to echo chamber and it becomes a way of life. Most likely don't even realize it or think they are being independent.

I don't think they will spike and the only people at risk fall into certain categories, but we can agree to disagree.

Agreed.

More power to you. Wear the mask, but I don't agree with trying to force others into wearing one. (I'm not suggesting you want to force people to wear a mask)
