I am confused Duke, every where else I look, except you and wunderground, says storms all day and likely into the night. Do you anticipate a break or is it too early to tell?

So Saturday is starting to look like a wash out?

I don't think anything looks like a washout. It looks like rain both days, but not much heavy stuff. The total rainfall is under an inch for both days.

Can you not simply tell your people that you have decided not to go because of the chance of rain and make other plans? No need to ruin our day. fricking Pete.

nope i'll get shamed for not wanting to stand on the side of a road for 10 hours getting hit by beads

Im judging on some models and NWS forecasts/discussion. The weather outlets are only going to tell you broad strokes because that's really all anyone can say with certainty. I'm just trying to make somewhat educated guesses based on the data I can see. So, you know, don't take my "predictions" as anything more than the official forecast mixed with some guesswork at the details.

Looking at the NAM, GFS, and the amount of the Euro I can see it looks like an unorganized sloppy patch of rain at some point Saturday with duration in question too. Theres a chance the precip is being under produced on the models. It'll take until Friday to get some super high res modeling to fill in gaps.

In short, still a lot of IDK but it really looks good for all the parades to go off as scheduled despite some showers.

Thx, you are killing it. If we, Endymion, roll on Saturday, I shall shower you with beads. If you are not there, if I ever meet you in person, I owe you copious amounts of alcohol.

I never make it over to Mid-city. Got a nice spot practically on the Uptown route. Just light the kids up with the beads.

I'd take you up on the booze if we were to ever cross paths.

You hear anything about what type of "rain suits" they have for us... Ponchos maybe..?

Just trying to figure out if I should bring my good one, or go buy a cheap one and leave it on the float...

No, just assuming it will be cheap clear plastic stuff. I am bringing frog tog suit I have, and a change of clothes. I always have a backpack, so I will keep it in there. Wife will also have a change of clothes for me at dome.

Just a reminder - bring some ziplock for your phone! Don't rely upon a cheap poncho which may barely cover your waist to keep your pockets dry.

After the storm in 11 or 12 I can’t believe all of hand wringing over what appears to just be some rain.

I keep seeing these threads and articles and even the news is chiming in to hype up "rain on Mardi Gras" like it has never rained on Mardi Gras before. WTF!?

I can't help but think that to make it official, we need a Frankie MacDonald Mardi Gras Storm Warning!

Just talked to my float lieutenant, he said they're wrapping the floats this evening, and putting them in the staging area Friday as usual.

He said the 2 main Endymion "weather guys" said w have a window between 5 and midnight were they think the rain chance will be about 10% with that light misty rain, but after midnight the shite will hit the fan.. They think Sunday will be a washout..

So we're rolling....

Fox 8 just posted this abou an hour ago

Saturday still looks to be a messy day for parades as widespread rain and occasional storms are expected to build and move across the region all day Saturday and Saturday evening.

Additional rounds of rain are possible on Sunday before a cold front moves into the area Sunday evening and attempts to dry us out a bit before the weekend comes to a close.

I’ve just accepted it’s going to rain at some point this weekend and it’s going to be a mess for most the parades. I’ll be at them regardless.
