Word is the krewe doesn't want to do that again, and will do any and everything possible to roll on Saturday

You forgot to add.. Sponsored by Monstery Energy Drink.

Monster Energy Mardi Gras, still nowhere near as trashy as Supercross.

Well, certainly.
However, it's not like the city has the luxury to wait until 4:00 on Saturday and say "welp, let's try again tomorrow..."

Everyone involved has to be ready for this. Simply because all possibilities are being discussed, doesn't mean they will come to fruition.

Do you think they would consider and earlier start time for Saturday if needed?
I'm not sure if NOPD and logistics could support it, but I guess it's an option

Not so much NOPD logistics, but rather parade logistics. I believe an earlier start would have them running into Tucks before they conclude.

Who knows, I am not connected to higher ups or anything. I have been through this a few times. One year they decided to cancel on Friday night, didn't rain a drop on Saturday. Then after it happened last time, 2012, it was made clear that Mid-City and Saturday is where the krewe belongs, and everything that can be done to stay there, will. Also, we wouldn't start until 11-11:30 on Sunday.

Move everyone up then, but rain, right now, is for the whole day. So moving up does nothing.

Speculation right now is that the city is already preparing for an Endymion washout, and moving them uptown behind Bacchus on Sunday.

This happened in 2006, first year after Katrina. It was a little different though, since the Superdome was not in use. BUT, it definitely happened. I remember other parades getting moved up in time and shortened, the Sunday ones at least. I rode in both Thoth and Endymion that year (which wound up being the same day because of this), it was a loooooong damn day!

From what I recall, Saturday would have been fine for Endymion...there was panic and they called it too soon.

Is the city not capable of running parades back to back? Happens in Houma all the time

Almost every parade in New Orleans happens back to back.

Might be a cold and wet Mardi Gras, period..

A forward thinking tourist-oriented destination would move it to April every year. That's what Disney would do. New Orleans is mired in the past.

This is exactly what happened. The other problem with running Endymion after Bacchus is you essential have to run it with no bands, only floats.

It's just such a bad situation. You also have those 15,000 or whatever number of people who were going to the dome for the extravaganza and those bands that were booked for that.
Many riders probably had already planned to check out of hotels and/or book flights out of town on Sunday.

And it sucks to just say, oh well for these guys. 3,000 riders who probably have $1,500 each invested in throws.

Endymion will have at least ONE band on Sunday night.
