So 6K a year / 63K employees - less than a 10 percent turnover rate.

The accounting industry laughs at this

You have to consider that there is practically no turnover in the operator and administrative ranks. In any given plant what % are operators and what % are engineers?

Not a ton of industries paying field hands $1500 per day or more.

The ranking system is well known to be a problem and create a cut throat culture where they all hate each other. Terrible place to work

People that left weren't operators. The people with no degree making >$100k per year aren't leaving... and were not the people let go during covid.

Yeh, that doesn't happen at left-leaning tech companies.

What if I used it a different way? I was arrested for laying hands on my ole lady.

I was going to say something about this as my only comment on the matter, but you already did. What you stated has validity and that bad feeling is about to be twisted up again for many over there with end of year rankings being in-season this time of year.

Or the fact that the shitty economy and interest rates are starting to really effect pensions. People close enough are getting out before it gets worse.

That's not necessarily true for upstream O&G. There is a substantial lack of experience right now.

I'm sorry, but who the f*ck goes to work at XOM expecting ping pong tables, nap rooms, and group therapy sessions?!?! Even within the fairly conservative and buttoned-up world of Oil & Gas, XOM is known for being a stern, down-to-business place. If they think it's tough now, they should've seen it in the 90s. Have any of these snowflakes ever heard of Lee Raymond? He made Rex Tillerson look like Mr. Rogers (Raymond would've never signed off on that new campus south of The Woodlands).

Also, the notion that Amazon or other Big Tech companies are an employee utopia is pretty funny (especially Amazon). Trendy offices and CEOs who wear Vans instead of wingtips don't make an environment any less competitive / cutthroat. We'll soon see how "employee friendly" these companies are when faced with macroeconomic headwinds and no more free money.
