The issue would then be that he's wasting everybody's time and invading their privacy. They give the keycards to the pool area for a reason, that's the layer of security.

And I’ll agree once she showed it he should’ve been over it instead of whining about the ID still... did she show it before he escalated? I’ve seen headlines but this thread last night was the first I actually watched/read anything further.

Obviously he’s in the wrong but not sure I jump to wrecking his life levels of wrong here. Might be giving him too much benefit of the doubt as “stereotypical overeager hoa guy that might actually bug everyone” instead of treating him like the rest of these recent stories

Why? If they didn’t look like someone living in the neighborhood, it’s no more singling them out than asking a person with a youthful appearance for ID to get into a bar and letting obviously older patrons pass

Not going to lie. I wanted to go permit Patty on a black family eating boiled crabs in the park the other day. They were just tossing the shells an over. They left a pile of trash. Not one thing thrown away.
I hate trashy people.

But can anyone tell me why he lost his job?
If the houses are half a million dollars in that neighborhood then he must have a pretty decent job.
Can't he sue her for publishing that video without consent, or defamation, or can he sue his employer for wrongful termination??

This shît is crazy.

He can't sue her for filming him. What kind of law would that be?

Why should she? What power does he have to request it? I wouldn’t show mine.

It’s perfectly legal to film in public places. As it should be.

Yes it is. I doubt it’s posted that you need valid ID to go to the pool. That’s why they had the security cards that the lady had. That is her ID.

Why? What if he works for a privately owned, at will company or business?

Nobody is calling for the guy to get arrested, but does his company not have the right to say we don't like the way he represented himself and his views and behavior do not mesh with our standards?

At worst the guy had every chance to stand down, apologize, or walk away but he didn't. The guy ended up being completely wrong, and there are several others who stated they had never had to show id.

I can't speak for you, but I would be livid if my wife and child were harassed and had the police called on them for being where they were absolutely entitled to be. Take race out of the equation. It would absolutely suck to have the police called on you, to be pulled out and questioned in front of neighbors and friends because some a-hole on a power trip wasn't given his respect.

Why does it bother people so much when they are asked to show their ID? It’s a very minimal inconvenience and usually when you refuse it only leads to a bigger inconvenience.

question is was he asking IDs of everyone at the pool or did he single out the one group that didn't look like they belonged?

I’m pretty sure he only asked the black mom because they are in a majority white area. I bet if she was white he wouldn’t ask her a damn thing.

Well for starters apparently there is no policy that states ID must be shown, so she is not required to. She asking to go above and beyond the standards set for everyone else, can you think of a reason why that might be? Again, you sign in and there are Pool Access cards.

Secondly, what gives this guy the right to ask for her ID? If you were sitting in your neighborhood park or gym i'm sure you wouldn't pull out your id for every a-hole that walked by and asked for it.

Lastly, it's a pool. People usually minimize the items they bring when they go to a pool or to a beach.

He's just an a-hole. I wish the cops had hit him up for harassing her.

If ID was required then it would be requested at the entrance. The keycard is all the ID necessary, so she had already provided that.

Why would this guy think he has the power to request ID? I’m not showing it just because some jackoff asks. Stop bothering me, I’m trying to enjoy my holiday.

Maybe he did, maybe he didn't, but even if he was asking every single family, he's still a complete dick.

He was most likely a dick at work, too. HR was probably gunning for him and when this happened they struck fast. Every work place has at least one a-hole like him who makes it uncomfortable for everybody.

Wrong dumbass. Your employer can fire for any reason they choose. They said his behavior wasn't what represented the company so they fired him. Welcome to at will employment
