Exactly, most of these groups are in it for clicks, not arrests. Most of the ones that do get arrested are plea deals for a small amount of jail time. The DA doesn’t want to go to trial b/c entrapment could be used as a defense.
The reason for entrapment is they usually contact the guy/set up a dating profile as a 20 year old and then after the convo has already started to get spicy say they are underage.
But I do think the people they catch are all scumbags and at least they have a video out in the public.

I watch alot of pred hunter videos & where most if them get into trouble is threatening jail time if the pred doesn't confess to a crime. That's bribery & is illegal & any confession has to be considered coerced at that point. Alex Rosen does a good job of riding this line successfully & he gets alot of convictions.

I agree that alot of these pred hunter groups are sketchy as hell. They may be doing the right thing, but for the wrong reasons. Most seem to be doing it, not because they truly care about children, but to gain the low level fame & power from being a YouTube vigilante.

Reminds me of the felons in prison who brag about beating up chomos. They might have burned their house down with their whole family inside, but messing around with kids is crissing the line.

How many of these groups are engaging and luring people into things they wouldn’t pursue naturally?

Almost never from what I can see. The most shocking thing is the supply of these guys is almost unlimited & they don't seem to care if they get caught - they can't help themselves. I've seen pred hunter groups catch the same guy 3 or 4 times.

In this case, with all these people coming forward now…would it even register with 15 year olds that their teacher was a creeper? Now that they’re older they realized…holy shite. That guy is a pedophile.

It's not entrapment if the police just show up at the end and make an arrest. Entrapment has to be carried out by the government

It’s a dude guilty. No excuses. Mental illness, being horny and drinking a cocktail isn’t an excuse. I know we make these excuses for others it seems like daily.

Seems like this can all be easily proven with logs and time stamps?

This guy is an acquaintance of mine, we have some mutual friends, but I don’t know him well. He’s had issues with promiscuity in the past (coworkers).

Not real surprised, he’s known to be a creeper and opportunistic.

It’s obvious by the messages, but he never struck me as very bright either.

No one forced that pedo to send explicit photos of himself.

I've told this story before, but very early in my career I was involved in a matter that had something like this connected to it (it was ancillary). I had to look at this material, which included chat logs (it was a PD, not a private group) between the guy and the supposedly 16 or so year old girl (who was a 30-40 year old person with the PD).

It was filthy and it did change how I viewed this stuff. The target was a creep of course and it wasn't like he was forced into it, but it wasn't some coy exchange where this perp was barraging this "teen." "She" was coming after him with extremely explicit stuff constantly and drawing him into these conversations.

I don't know what I expected, all I knew was To Catch a Predator where at least on the show it was always some 12 year old looking girl going "hi do you want some lemonade!" - definitely not that. I'm not sure if the law has changed in terms of how much of a role these groups/departments can play since then.

Would you go on social media and be lured into sending dick pics to a person you believe to be a minor?

Would you schedule a meet & greet with said minor, and travel to that location with the intent of meeting said minor?

Sorry, but I’m a normal person. No one would be “luring” me into that type of behavior.

Everything in these stings is fully understood by the person getting caught. They know they’re expecting to meet a minor.

Which if you think about it is scary, because it’s accepted behavior among the ones caught.

Which means they’ve likely done it before. How many people are routinely doing this and NOT getting caught?

I bet his lawyers argue entrapment by the group. If the Watch group isnt in law enforcement, can charges be brought legally anyway?

If you watch enough enough of these confessions, you see a common theme among alot of these guys: they have fallen victim to their own porn brain.

They start out watching normal porn until it becomes like any other addiction. They continue to seek out more sick & depraved shite until they end up on the dark web watching sexualized infants or two 12 year old boys forced to have sex with each other at gunpoint.

It's really opened my eyes as to how dangerous free unlimited pornography is to a man's mind & state of well-being.

It probably could, but by that time a person's name and probably picture has been spread all over social media, maybe picked up by local news outlets, talked about in the community and online. If a person in innocent all of that is not going to be walked back easily, the damage is already done.

Could definitely see a scenario where some poor bastard is set up and told to "meet me at this location" thinking it's something completely innocent and getting busted by these guys. Next thing you know, you're in the mall with your dick out trying to prove it doesn't match the one in the photo.

It's not entrapment - it's blackmail. You can't tell someone "Hey, i'm going to release damaging information about you unless you do what I want".

Here in Winston-Salem, NC a group of pedo hunters from Ohio came down and met a creep in a Walmart. They were filming him and the pedo freaked out and shot one of the dudes in the store. Everyone left the scene. They ended up figuring out what happened because one of the pedo hunters ended up in a hospital back in Ohio with gun shot wounds. I bet that was a long ride!

Similar group in Millersville,TN are doing the same thing. From what I heard on the Nashville news, I believe the TBI is saying during these “stings” it has to be actual LEO that is doing the typing of the setup for the cases to stick and bring charges.
