12-year NOPD officer suffers brain injury after being hit by suspected drunk driver on I-10

quote:

A 12-year NOPD veteran was critically injured in a crash on Interstate 10 and remains in a non-responsive state with “massive brain injuries,” Police Superintendent Michael Harrison said at a news conference Sunday morning.

While responding to an accident, NOPD First District officer Natasha Hunter was struck by a vehicle driven by a suspected drunk driver on Interstate 10 eastbound at Esplanade Avenue early Sunday. Hunter was inside her police vehicle on the shoulder of the road, with the emergency lights on, when she was hit, Harrison said.

The driver of the vehicle was also transported to an area hospital.

“This hurts like hell,” Harrison said at the news conference.

Terrible tragedy.

"Grave" and "head injury" = dead.

Or wish for death. Unless some miracle recovery. She will pass or live with a terrible TBI. Needing nursing home type care.

I would be one Uber using mo fo if I lived in NOLA. shite, my car would never leave the garage on weekends. Drunk driving anywhere is stupid, but in NOLA it is fricktarded.

In 2005 came home one day and had papers stuck on my car from the city declaring it as abandoned.

Was always in walking distance of where I needed to be or too hammered to drive.

Out of respect, please don't go there now. Anyway, it is possible that people can have an opinion that checkpoints are unconstitutional AND believe the police should aggressively enforce DWI laws.

Prayers sent. Shoulder of the interstate is really dangerous at night. The flashing lights are like a beacon for drunk drivers. Terrible to hear. I really hope she can pull through
