Sounds about right. BACK THE BADGE, boys! They’ll kill your dogs after serving your country. Time to put a bunch of blue lights up at every house.

One of the most jaded, broken and miserable people I ever met was a New Orleans detective.

Of course they did.

Every cop lies. You wouldn’t be a cop anymore if you didn’t lie to bail your buddies out in situations like this.

ETA: And how about a link?

Not a huge fan of NOPD or service dogs. Not sure how to feel on this one.

To be fair the officer never reported they were bit. Also, why did the guy let his dog outside into an unfenced yard?

I am not sure if that makes it better or worse. So some PR a-hole went to lie and cover up before getting any facts.

NOPD, it’s easier to kill dogs than solve crimes.

Too be fair, a New Orleans detective is probably a really depressing job

I agree. He had a stack of unsolved, each one of those may as well been a ghost following him.

The fur insulates them from the current. It's why they are so rarely electrocuted.

The cop who shot the dog never said it bit him. He also has apologized to the owner. Public Affairs get credit for saying the dog bit him before he shot it.

The owner says the dog was barking and "rushed" the cop. I don't know the breed or how close the dog got before he pulled the trigger, but if big dog was barking and running at me, especially if it was a vicious breed, I can see how it happened.

Sad situation for the cop and the veteran.

That is a pretty sticky plan of action.
