Sucks all around. Vet should have had his dog leashed. Also, if this was truly a trained service dog, I doubt that it would be the type to charge and bark at people.

They do have other weapons on them right? Is a gun the most appropriate weapon to use if a dog is coming towards you?

Hard say how I would react but in the heat of the moment I would shoot someone if they shot my dog.

Different situations call for different responses:
Bully breed rushes you in an aggressive manner, put it down.
Golden retriever comes at you in an aggressive manner, you give it some belly tickles.

Because tazers are designed for human torsos making them extremely difficult to get both prongs in since the prongs separate when you fire them.
