To me, this isn't just some flag hanging first amendment type right.
El Capitan is one of the most scenic natural wonders in America, arguably the most scenic.
To allow anyone to hang something on this should be met with stiff penalties.
There are many first time guests to Yosemite NP every day, and it would be a travesty the one time someone gets to view El Capitan there is some flag hanging on it, especially some pride flag.

I agree with you, people want to look at natural beauty and it shouldn’t be desecrated by any man made obstructions or graffiti. No matter what it is. Park service employee should understand this.
