This is the front page story on NOLA.com, the New Orleans website and newspaper of record.

HUGE arse BEER

The 70 ounce beer served in an heroic plastic bottle is priced between $26 and $30 depending on the brand of brew one chooses.

I mis-read that headline this morning as the "9 biggest dumbest drunks", and wondered how far back they'd dig.

Maybe in the sixties grandpa! If you want NOLA culture you gotta cough up the big bucks now. I wonder what sweet deals exist on other streets in the city.

Old Absinthe House FTMFW.

If you’re drinking a daiquiri on Bourbon Street, you’re doing it wrong.

The regular ones are/were. It was just like a big 32oz plastic cups. They are talking about the ones that come in a gigantic plastic beer bottle looking thing.

Its really not that bad if you consider what its like going out in a major city. Dumbest prices have to be night clubs esp the ones in vegas. New orleans is as cheap as you can get

Taffer is a gosh darn American treasure. He rescued that bar single handedly by having an idea so simple it sounds stupid. Who would have thunk to use a go cup with a flashing light in it. John effin Taffer thats who.

Goddamnit. Let me quote you there for the idiots on this board that don't understand those damn tourists pay our cities bills* with all their sales tax dollars.

*By "bills" I of course mean paying off all the politicians family members, funding the fricked up S&WB and generally adding to the Democratic slush fund. But better their dollars than mine!

Huge arse Beers were $5 as little as 10 years ago. The city changed a good bit in that short time, though, so I don't doubt the price hike.

It just goes to show how inept the owners of the bar were. They have a prime location on Bourbon and the bar was failing....pretty sad.

Yup, they were $5 and were terrible. I'm so glad I'm not a poor anymore.
