Got an invite to a Bourbon St balcony party on Endymion Saturday night. What’s the chances of Ubering in and out from Metairie like 5pm to midnight or so? Haven’t Ubered on a busy time/place like that.

Shouldn't be that bad since most people will already be down there. Just take the Interstate to Esplanade Ave all the way down to Decatur and you're good. Or get off at Orleans Vieux Carre and get dropped off at the police station and walk. It's right by the entrance and exit to the intestate so it's an easy drop off and nothing is blocked off.

Be ready to walk a bit, and wait in traffic. Probably not a crushing experience but depending on the surge it could be pricey both ways

The quarter will be closed go vehicle traffic. Will just have to walk to rampart, and there will be a line of ubers and taxis.

Yet significantly cheaper than a DUI.

You won't have an issue getting a ride, it will just be expensive.

I paid $50 last year for an Uber XL to go from Lakeview to the dome for extravaganza. But family picked us up after. Would have cost about the same heading home.

Won’t be able to get much closer than maybe Rampart and Canal, but not too long a walk from there. Then again may not be able to get that close. If Uber came in the back way to the quarter, may be able to get dropped of on Esplanade or Elysian Fields. Not a bad walk from there either.

More like $40-$50 each way. Maybe $60.

Most answers are right except about French quarter closed to vehicles. It’s closed to everyone except taxis and ride share drivers. The police move the barricades when they see the lights. Still have to walk off bourbon because Bourbon is barricaded off. Just walk to Dauphine. I use the quarter the past two years to bypass Rampart traffic.

You'll pay somewhere between 10-20x IF the uber can even make it to where you are. I'd imagine ~$200

At what point does renting a hotel room become a competitive option? Especially if you phone around for a late vacancy?

I remember this was always an underrated night in FQ, especially if the weather was good. Spots like Pat O's and the Goldmine start to fill up around 1am with drunk ladies in ball gowns who leave the extravaganza early.
