If you take I-49, be sure to do the speed limit once you hit DeSoto Parish. The cops live on the interstate and love to write tickets.

Any other speed traps other than Washington?

As soon as I knew 3:00 p.m. departure, I knew I was fricked,
30-45 minutes getting out of NO, an hour to two hours in and around BR. Thats without accidents.
I've made that trek many many times and 8 hours isnt that bad.

Waze can’t tell you when you leave at 3 that a wreck will happen at 3:45. So a wreck happens and you either sit in traffic, or back track and add 2 hours to your drive.

This is what I'd do. 98 through the forest is 55mph 2-lane but only about 20mi. Then you get on hwy84 which is 65mph 4-lane to Natchez. 425 up to Rayville is mostly 65mph 4-lane.

put your destination in Waze at the beginning, then go whichever way it tells you. I'd guess Hwy 90 to I-49.

Whatever Waze says.
This... Waze saves time and my sanity. The only problem is it lacks predictive measures that would anticipate if the route it provides will clog up with traffic during the trip.

90 to 49. That way you miss Baton Rouge completely.

Will I get screwed by driving on Saturday by antifa blackout?

I-55 to Hwy 27 to I-20. Or 90 to I-49.
It will take an hour minimum to get through 4:00 BR traffic. Use Waze and find the quickest route around BR.

Take I-55 to I-20. frick going through Baton Rouge between 4:00 and 5:00 on a Friday.
This x100000000000000000.
Even if it is longer by like 15 minutes according to waze. Real life will be like 30 minutes faster.
Oh and your stress level will 100000000000000 times lower.
