Mayor LaToya Cantrell ordered most businesses in New Orleans to close to stop the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus. Public and private gatherings are also prohibited in non-emergency situations.

“This does not apply to health care facilities, pharmacies, grocery stores, corner stores, banks, gas stations and to her essential service providers,” Cantrell said.

Bars, gyms, shopping centers and malls, live performance venues, reception facilities and other establishments where large gatherings occur are all ordered to cease operations.

The order goes into effect on Tuesday, March 17 at 6 a.m.

Not sure what the count is as of today, but as of yesterday Orleans Parish had more cases and deaths from Coronavirus than Los Angeles county did, despite having 9.6 million less people.

It's the Mardi Gras effect, sadly.

LA county has 1. 1. Despite having a population of 10.16 million. They currently have 94 cases, Orleans parish has around 79.

They should just shoot everyone involved and burn the corpses.

They have to do something. Did you not see all the idiots on Bourbon this weekend. New Orleans cases are growing faster than anywhere in the state.
