This is the worst idea. Have you thought about the chaos of moving "routs" each night? So much of the infrastructure (barricades, tree trimming, power line elevation etc.) would have to be moved and deployed to a different "rout" each night of the week. People in various neighborhoods would/wouldn't be able to get home or to other places depending on the night and which streets are closed etc. Keep the "routs" to a few repeat locations as they are now and its so much easier for everyone involved including the city employees, police, spectators, homeowners.

Zulu let in White members. But they wear blackface (as is parade custom) I wonder if any white Zulu members have to worry about blackface pictures. I mean people get it here. Though imagine you transfer to California and sometime scrolling your Instagram sees you in full witch doctor regalia. I wonder how that would go over.

I thought the bigger controversy, or at least the one that killed membership, was that the founder of the parade essentially stole most of the money riders were paying to ride.

The All Lives Matter thing was kind of the straw that broke the camel's back. The people I knew who rode got more and more disgusted each year with the way it was run and they hated the captain. Funny thing is that at its height Nyx was the most diverse parade in the city.

The malcontents in Nyx were trying to take her down long before, that was just the one people remember because of the BLM bullshite. Before that it was over some finance/spending shite that went nowhere.

I recall the lady who started the Tales of the Cocktail deal got into some shite because of this.

I always liked Metairies route. Even with parades going you can get around or over it and your can still transverse the city.

In New Orleans during parade time uptown from Jefferson to Pontchartrain expressway is a no go zone.

One of the Founders of Tales of the Cocktail got absolutely cancelled for this a few years ago by a shitload of people from out of state. They tried to ruin her life.

Tons of Zulu people came to her defense but a lot of the damage was already done

Now imagine changing that "rout" each night of the week uptown and the total confusion and chaos of people trying to get anywhere.

For a stretch of years we would hardcore it uptown MG weekend and then do Fat Tuesday in Metairie for lower key…man it was so much easier, safer, roomier and sprawled out in Metairie for sure. Albeit kinda missing some coolness as well.

The one year I did Mardi Gras Day in Metairie I saw more fights and bullshite than I had ever seen Up-town. Which was strange because every other Metairie parade I had been to was the exact opposite.

I always wondered about this. I didn't know if there was an instance of it.

Surprised more hasn’t been made about the Zulu king and queen living in St Bernard Parish… I would think the old timers HATE that

Awful idea and will never happen. If anything all of the routes will become uniform. Endymion already pays out the arse to be in mid - city.

What’s likely to happen is Nyx will lose their permit completely and Druids moves to Thursday. That takes an entire night away and saves plenty resources.

You must have been near Bonnabel. For some reason it's really trashy right after Bonnabel. Or from Puglias to hurricanes.

Pretty sure Zulu has had people who live out of state as well. I don’t think it’s a big deal to anyone.

Nyx is pretty much dead. Its so dumb, but it is what it is.

I stumbled upon Nyx TikTok yesterday and got the whole story. It is stupid. They are trying to get Julie to step down but in the Nyx charter, Nyx cannot exist without her. Then there is the racketeering stuff.

The guy says "Nyx used to be big now they have only 200 members because of their stupid racist captain, everyone will leave when that parade starts we're here for Druids"
Then the lady with him said "it was the all lives matter controversy" which sparked my memory.

Crazy how something so small could have such a reaction.
I still don't get what's wrong with All Lives Matter. Other than they don't.

Yea Nyx use to Roll on the Saturday before Endymion and was huge as recently as 2018.
