I think it's ridiculous but no more ridiculous than wanting to preserve the statue of this dude

I mean he WAS a pro segregation racist.

I guarantee you before this whole situation, every one of those protesters passed those statues everyday and didn't know or care who the hell they were.

Where does it stop though? I would say most of our public figures before segregation could be labeled the same. Should we go back to George Washington and the founding fathers also?

Let me ask you this, should statues of any human be erected? Because at this rate, there is not 1 person in existence that should have a statue, including Martin Luther King. Because everyone has a past. These people with these statues achieved great things in spite of their past. And only a fool would A) get offended over metal and/or concrete B) be so hypocritical to demand only certain things should be removed they personally deem offensive.

In short, quit being a pussy, life is tough, get a helmet.

This is what they are trying to do at Princeton. They want to remove some President's (Wilson?) name from some part of the University because he was apparently racist. I think he was just a man of his times but it is gaining traction, of course.

Oh, and if you can guarantee that removing these statues will lower crime in New Orleans, then i'll help you remove them.

You think he was "just a man of the times" but you can't actually name the president in question?

Sounds like you're drawing a conclusion before actually thinking about the issue at hand

This isn't the thing that needs removing from New Orleans if you want to lower crime.

The point is that it was not a recent President. I think ALL people are products of their surroundings and the time you live in matters. Who knows what crappy things we are doing now that will be looked at later. I can name a few but don't want to start that argument. I am 99% sure it was Wilson, for the record, but since I didn't have the damn NPR audio playing at the moment I put a ? just to be careful. Frick off you SJW.
