All three can make a case for being the worst area in the state but which one is worst? Gotta say north BR. New Orleans East has Village De L'Est which isn't terrible and has good Vietnamese food. You're less likely to die in western Shreveport than the other two. Can't think of a single redeeming quality of north BR.

The good thing about West Shreveport is that it is pretty easy to avoid.

I’ve been to all 3. It was about 20 years ago. But NBR was the worst.

These days, I think I’d rather live in N.O. than B.R.

North BR is way better than New Orleans East. New Orleans East is essentially a failed state. That’s some lord of the flies 3rd world shite. I’ve seen quite a bit of this world, and I’ve never been anywhere in this world half as unsettling or disturbing as the East other than Detroit.

North BR is dangerous and filled with mothballed retail businesses and crumbling warehouses, but it still feels like a semi-functioning community. There’s drivable roads, stores, decent houses, not entirely run down apartments, a university, a competent airport, honestly pretty good infrastructure, etc. The East looks like a post apocalyptic wasteland, like a bomb went off, or civilization collapsed and these are the survivors digging through the rubble. It’s the closest thing Louisiana has to Detroit.

I go through NBR once a month and was out in the east last month. NOLA east (Bundy, Crowder, Dowman, etc) are frighteningly bad.

Came here to say this. North BR is much “better” than the East.

Little woods in New Orleans east is one of the worst places i have ever been. Daily murders, no redeemable qualities.

What happened to TulaneLSU and his top 10 lists? He did one involving NO East buildings a while back. Did he finally become a poboy tour guide and bounce out of the OT?

The East was actually an advanced development for its time -- underground power lines, modern structures, aerospace facilities, all supposedly more advanced than NO proper.

But then a funny thing happened to the East.

Nola east is probably the worst place I can think of in LA. You just feel a wave of depression the second you see it. Was it Katrina that killed the area, or did it collapse before then?

Katrina killed it. It wasn’t near what it was originally pre Katrina, but that did it in.

Is that abandoned Holiday Inn hi rise still visible from I10? That alone looked like something from a Mad Max movie.

I had so much hope for Covid, but it turned out to be a disappointment.
