unfortunately over the last 14 years or so NOLA has been screwed over by both sides... the political outsider with a business background and the political insider whose connections should have been able to get the city almost anything

A cousin of mine is one of the major NOLA preservationists. She's saying on FB that $5m is set aside for lawsuits/statue removal, but no one in the media has picked up on it yet. I'm sure she's right. But I doubt that it ends up being that cheap.
So what does the average NOPD officer make per year? $50k? $5m could put an extra 10 cops on the streets for ~10 years. Good job, NOLA.

How do you get on as a city attorney? Those baws must be making bank defending all the silly shite the city gets itself into. How many years did that lawsuit go on with the firemen?

I'll have to look for a link, but I definitely read an article that stated there were some heavy donors giving money for lawsuits, statue removal, etc.

that went on for like 20 years if not longer
did the union members agree to the agreement? I know there was split in the membership on whether to ratify it or not

I'm not sure that ever got sorted out.......probably millions more in tax payer money will be pissed away on that.
