So when your precious innocent people keep capping each others arse every day after the statues are gone and the welfare checks keep flowing, what is next to blame?

Plenty of white people bitched about it too. Don't put this all on us.

And I'm 100% against the removal of the statues.

He's like a pig in mud in this thread... an artist with racially-driven bullshite as his medium. I feel sorry for the guy.

I'm all for keeping the monuments

But the cornerstone address makes this pretty clear

And honestly, its time people get over it. This whole issue is dumb, unnecessary, and a waste of time.

When your people keep fricking your cousins who's to blame. See everyone can do that. Doesn't even make sense to whine or go there. Calm down.

Since I don't have time to read 56 pages...

On a scale of 1 to Donald Trump, how racist did this thread get?

What a bunch of idiots who think these monuments to great historical figures are going to be leveled like sadam Hussein or Benito Mussolini.

The tearing down of the Sadam statue was done with a lot more flair than this.

I think the ancient Eqyptians would do things like chisel the nose off of statues representing previous dynasties who were defeated and obliterating their names from inscriptions and such. (Probably the Romans did this too).

Honest question: Is Lennin's body still on display at the Kremlin? I gotta go google that.

The new Constitution has put at rest forever all the agitating questions relating to our peculiar institutions—African slavery as it exists among us—the proper status of the negro in our form of civilization. This was the immediate cause of the late rupture and present revolution. Jefferson, in his forecast, had anticipated this, as the "rock upon which the old Union would split." He was right.

And taking down the statues was pure pandering for the mentally weak

These are federally protected monuments and one of the four is a protected monument that prohibits its removal. These monuments are going anywhere. The lawsuit is bullet proof

NOLA news this morning was saying the statues will be down in a matter of days before any federal ruling can be made. It was also mentioned that none of the federal judges are going to want to touch this case.

Just in case you didn't know, the emancipation proclamation did nothing to free any slaves. It only applied to rebel held territory(as if the confederates would recognize a proclamation by Lincoln).

In addition it did nothing to free the slaves in the union. They weren't freed until after the civil war by constitutional amendment.

Lastly, the cornerstone address was simply a reflection of the people that elected their leaders. As repugnant as slavery was, it was constitutional at the time and the will of the people. Our federal govt disagreed with those states exerting that much control, something that still very much happens today, and a war was fought.
