There will be a move or petition to have names of confederate soldiers taken off of public streets in New Orleans.

This was almost an Obama-like Executive Order. This sets a terrible precedent for the city and the country. Where does it end? Washington Monument offends a set of people? The Jefferson Memorial? How about Jackson Square? Jackson almost exterminated the entire Native-American population of the Southeast and also owned slaves.
WOuld it be advisable to make a "Frick Mitch" bumper sticker with a fleur de lis over the "u" ..the u in 'frick' that is

The mayor even said today that he has no clue where this will go but he was certain that it would start today lol

Mitch DGAF about it unless it helps his political career. That's why he started the whole thing, and thats why he brought it up when he did. He'll probably use it only once more for advancement if I had to guess. Really, nobody inside or outside of the city saw it as a problem, and it has been a nuisance

Could the state declare them historic landmarks? I'm just asking..

Napolean Avenue should be renamed to DFL Lane.

This. The guy is a pig obsessed with his legacy. He know he has no real victories under his belt so he goes for some futile symbolic gesture like this.

Are they auctioning the statues? Online bidding?

Why don't you just not worry about NOLA
Why, because you're doing such a good job of handling this ridiculous embarrassment? As long as I do business, pay taxes, go out and support the largest city in my home state, I'll think, act and speak as I please. Thanks for your interest though.

They already are....and national monuments as well. Those monuments aren't going anywhere. A lot of people were duped today by the pandering of Mitch and a bunch of idiots.

It would then be named Dead Clydesdale Alley.
Posted on 12/17/15 at 5:54 pm to Choctaw
Exactly.
They're going to be there tomorrow. And the next day, and the next, etc.
What a bunch of idiots who think these monuments to great historical figures are going to be leveled like sadam Hussein or Benito Mussolini.

as the person earlier posted w/ the PACER log in page link... WWLTV has confirmed a lawsuit has been filed against Landrieu and the city on this matter
Posted on 12/17/15 at 6:02 pm to REG861
Has he done anything significant other than being the first sitting mayor ever to be put on house arrest? I guess he hasn't embezzled money yet, so there's that

they will not. Whites will withdraw more and the money will go with them. The city clearly doesn't respect its white constituency and don't count on their tax dollars or financial support any more.
New Orleans will become a third world slum, supported only by the tourism industry, which visits the city for the nostalgia. Now that the uniqueness is being ripped away, the interest in New Orleans will die.
And yet those young professionals keep moving
