Your post only confirms what I said.

Any person can petition the Interior Department to remove a site from the National Register, and it's the Sec. of the Interior's decision.

Inclusion on the Register doesn't guarantee a monument's place forever. A quick google search shows that over 1750 historical sites have been removed from the National Register since 1970.

They're coming down. Get used to it.

and where in the section that terd originally quoted do any of these fit? they simply don't

It's simple for me, as a life long fan of NOLA I simply won't be going to the city as often as I do...

My Robert E. Lee costume for Mardi Gras should be a hit.

Ordinary folks need to stop listening to the politicians and these race hustlers because all they care about is the money continuing to go into their wallets, nothing else.

I would say 95% of folks could give a shite about race in their daily interactions with folks in modern America, but when you have people who constantly bring up racism that doesn't exist and BS like the monument issue, don't they realize that only breeds contempt amongst folks from the opposite race?

Oh, the racers are mad about this one. Major OT melt.

And Stacy Head was the only one with any balls to vote against it.

Any black man whose grandfather was NOT a slave should not be allowed to use the word slavery.

That should silence the shite pretty quickly...

People need to realize that history isn't always good, but it's part of who we are as a country, as a society. Those monuments are symbols of a tragic, BUT VERY IMPORTANT part of our history. They are to be learned from, not destroyed.

Where does this all end? Rename Washington DC? Tearing down all the beautiful mansions in the South? Burning the artworks and books of those from the pre-Civil War era? Abraham Lincoln was a racist. Should we remove him and his entire legacy? There is both good and evil in EVERY MAN. We can't let the bad ALWAYS define us or our legacies. What a horrible outlook these people who wanted the statues removed have.

Here's a thought experiment for you: Imagine the institution of chattel slavery had never existed in North America. What would the country look like then?

I can't friggin wait till they come after the fleur-de-lis. Branded on slaves for running away and theft, it's a huge symbol of racism!

It's sad that we continue to let the minority rule in this country. When in the hell did we start giving in to every want and need of these buffoons?

You just don't understand how the statues make them feel man. It hits them right in the feels and they can't contribute to society because of it. So many people are forced into crime and poverty because these statues exist.

If the statues are coming down you can bet any traditions held onto by the racist French will be whitewashed too.

I can see the protests forming already. They will use the same strategy to censor the krewes as they did to integrate them. We give you our police officers, therefore we need to approve your floats for political correctness. Anyone that disagrees can walk down Canal Steet with Comus on Mardi Gras night without floats.

Book it.

There was a guy who spoke at the meeting and pretty much said the same thing. After everything he mentioned the gospel church like crowd would yell yes or praise the lord. They don't care about any of those things.

I belong to an all male organization for black men. Never in my many discussions about this city have the monuments come up. It's always about education, murder and family structure.

These monuments are a distraction from looking behind the curtain.

Nothing will change except the widening racial divide in this country. Good job to all involved.

Clearly the plantation houses along the Mississippi needed to be turned to ash and dust in restitution for centuries of oppression.

We will prevail.
