1. no it doesn't. read a fricking book

2. did you know that in 1860 28% of freed black people in New Orleans owned slaves while only 5% of white people in the entire south were slave owners?

3. did you know that the person with the most slaves in the entire state of Louisiana was a black man that owned a sugarcane plantation?

4. have you ever read a book?

I honestly didn't give a frick about the statues but for you to get so mad over something which such a negative meaning is hilarious.
What negative meaning? During this time people were loyal to their states. Money ran the states but the common man had no control over that. You insinuate a negative context because you have zero understanding of the men. You just know that you heard they were bad so that is that. Robert E. Lee was not a slaveowner, in fact he was offered the position as general of the Union Army, he refused the offer because he did not want to fight against his fellow Virginians. The statue in particular is meant to commemorate the leader he was, the fact that he refused to fight his state, and for the 25% of the Southern men who gave their life so 6% of the population could have slaves.

It's impossible to argue with people who respond to facts with feelings

I suppose that's their strategy: "I can't rebut your argument with facts, so I'll just tell you that it makes me feel sad."

This city council crap was just for shits and giggles.

It was all just a deflection from the real issues of New Orleans. Why do you think it was all started by Mitch? He wanted something to talk about other than the crime statistics.

Unfortunately the majority vote with zero regards to facts.

In the practice of law, when you don't have the facts or the law on your side, you must pound on your desk loudly.

Peter Blunt had it down pat.

The black guy who went up there with the Bible said it the best. "None of my friends who did something with their lives care about these monuments".

To the idiot councilwhatever that said there were no casualties in New Orleans- yeah I guess they have never heard of Benjamin Butler.

Dude executed a citizen (William B Mumford) for taking down the American flag after the capture of New Orleans. He was convicted by military tribunal of treason, and hanged.

I don't expect the mob or the Obamanauts to understand history or its significance, so I will just let it go as par for the course.

White people love this stat. What you dumbasses seem to not understand is that freed blacks purchased slaves so they could free their relatives not to put them to work.
