NOLA City Council Wants to take on Entergy

Entergy has long been a terribly run utility with awful customer service.
Entergy is very good at restoring power when storms happen... mainly because they bring in thousands of out of state crews to help.
And there is only so much "hardening" you can do to a system to handle 150 mph winds.
But the story of the New Orleans Power Station is a disaster. They out and out lied about what that station can do... saying it could self-start. Remember... this is the same project that Entergy was busted paying actors to go to council meetings and testify as to why the plant was needed.
I do have a lot of questions as to what they have done in past years with storm recovery money, and what they are doing with regard to hardening the system. Have they done everything they can?
I also think part of the problem is having the city council be the regulator. Let's say most of the blame should go to Entergy LA, not Entergy New Orleans, for the downed lines. The city council has no regulatory authority over Entergy LA. The public service commission does... but they are probably more corrupt than the city council.
I'd be open to kicking out Entergy in exchange for another provider... but lord we don't need a Sewerage and Water Board for power...

I like that they’re finally calling entergy NO out on the bullshite the residents have been fed but the idea of a city led power company isn’t extremely appealing to me.
Regardless, I’m happy to see some heat turned up on entergy.

Someone needs to do a study on the number of studies planned and done in Louisiana.

I see no way in which this could fail spectacularly

Every single government entity or utility monopoly in LA, much less NOLA, needs to be thoroughly audited. Any government official taking bribes, stealing, or misappropriating should be prosecuted and thrown in jail.

What could go wrong

Let's yell at someone then let them increase electricity rates.

Isnt Entergy building a self contained sub station at the SWB just for the SWB?

There's not enough room in the jails until recently when we decided to send home people who were jailed for weed.
Plenty of room now.

Yes, Latoya agreed to that. At the time... I said this was a terrible idea to trust Entergy on this.
