Well I mean at least the building hasn’t collapsed and killed people so I’d say NOLA is moving on up

Went to it many times between ‘10 and ‘15. What’s so great about the new one? Got tired of walking through the Tiny Winn Dixie in the old one.

Much bigger, new updated exhibits, has some outdoor stuff, has a cafe.

Oh and a much better parking situation.

1) April - May is a huge time for school field trips for places like that, and the schools were closed, so they lost all of that.

2) Destroya's orders mean they can't have parties / events of any decent size

3) People are scared to bring their kids to inside places

4) The sanitizing that a place like that needs, with those types of exhibits, has to be insane.

You are right about all of this, but it is a shame. Kids aren't getting Covid much and should be able to safely use a facility like this. I don't know what your neighborhood lis like, but in mine life hasn't seemed to change at all for the kids. Still playing in large groups, sharing balls, bikes, etc. That's why I don't understand all the hand wringing about schools.

They don’t have parents? Education begins in the home!

The new one is awesome and in a much better location. This news is so sad to read. Add them to the list of many many more to come because of the stupidity of Covid.

It's never been about the kids. It's always been about the teachers. Specifically the teacher's union.

You’re paying someone else to spend quality time with your child?

Yeap, only made worse by the hordes of fear pimps out there. The likelihood of a child getting sick is incredibly small.

I don’t like that they built in city park. I want my park to have open space, not more metal and concrete

There is still a shitton of open space. I guess if they would clear the land from the old golf course and such and keep it cut, more people would realize this.

It's not like where the built there was some hidden treasure.
