Sounded like it was getting better last time I got in touch an hour ago or so where my people are in old metairie.
No running water, but not horrendous flooding. Sounds like all the trees are down, roof damage plentiful. Can't wait to see what I come home to, I'm closer to the lake on causeway, Literally wrapped up all the repair/renovations after zeta, like in june. Owell could be worse.

How’d the houses in this area look?
Lots of shingles on the ground, some fence boards and siding missing but I don’t see anything structurally significant. However this is all I can see from my front or back porch.

Still a few gusts in uptown but it looks like the worst is moving out for the area.

Hope y’all are ok. Couple of trees in the neighborhood are down and unfortunately hit some houses. We were spared. Just got the wife to go to bed and the dogs are set for the night.

Time for a cocktail or 20 on the front porch.

After eight hours of day drinking and watching the severe winds now heading to the North Shore I think it’s finally time to switch from Wine to a cocktail

Where you going from? Curious if they will prevent people from going back in.

In Lakeview by City Park/Harrison. The water is higher than I’ve ever seen it by far but still not into peoples houses that I can see from my porch. It’s up to my first step.

I'm hoping badly that is the worst of the water. If it is at people's first step then it is most likely right at my doorstep. I have sandbags at my door, but only went 2 high and bought myself about another foot. It's going to be so close.

When will the best time to head east from HTX? I’m almost positive my janky arse windows upstairs are blown out.

may be wise to pick up some plywood wherever you currently may be. Lowe’s, HD and lumber yards are about to sell out quickly.

I’m at Baptist on one of the upper floors with my baby in the NICU. looking out the window and I just see darkness in every direction. Only lights I see that nurses have pointed out are from the other hospitals in the area with generators as well. Going to be some tough days ahead here with everyone without power. I only packed to be here 2 nights since we were required to check in Saturday and stay thru Monday, but I’m getting worried I’ll be stranded here for days unable to check on anything at home afterwards.

Any word on pumping situation? Water just sitting here in west Lakeview. Hoping they find a way to start clearing this out at some point.

If you’re there with family, don’t worry about anything. We made it through ok, and a lot of people to the southwest are not so lucky. Hope the little one is alright. Everything else is replaceable.

If you come back from Houston, go to Walmart or Costco and load up on waters and essentials for your neighbors.

I’m an optimist but it looks like Nola is in for a hell
Of a week. If you can spare it, a little extra help to your neighbors it’s will help
