Most luxury cars require 91, yet the only gas station I found that sells 91 is in Michigan.
Paying extra to get the 93, is a waste of money.

Better brands of 2-stroke yard equipment often recommend minimum 89 Octane for the fuel mix. I generally use 93 for the fuel/oil mix as my truck is tuned for it and a 5-gallon gas can will last me most of a season for mower as well.

Well, yea for performance. But for most people you aren't noticing that on your daily commute. Ditto for any incrimmetal efficiancy increase. I've never experienced an increase in efficiency with my vehicles though.

Unless your engine is turbocharged, or you have an old vehicle.

My car definitely runs better on 89 than 87 and I can feel the difference.

Some engines need higher than 87 but don't need 93.

But then, you're better off mixing half and half 87 and 93 for 90 at the same price as 89.

Or run 87 and every 3-4 tanks pour in a bottle of Lucas.

I'd bet money you actually can't. 2 octane points is basically nothing.

Yeah, you’re right, I know nothing about the vehicle I drive everyday.

If you put regular in a car requiring premium it can make the engine knock.

What happens if you put premium in a car that just needs regular? Nothing? Is it better for the car in any way?

I didn't say that. I did say that you aren't noticably feeling the difference from 87 to 89. And I'll stand by that. I'd be more inclined to believe you if you said you could feel the difference between 87 and 93.

What kind of car do you have?

Nope, unless your car has high compression and needs premium fuel putting anything more than 87 in it is throwing money away. Don’t listen to your moron cousin who says filling up with premium is “better for the car”.

I used to have a friend with an 85’ 4Runner with a 22R engine who would drive all across town to wherever had the cheapest fuel and then he’d fill it up with premium. I used to get a laugh out of it every time he gassed up.

2014 Jeep Cherokee.

It’s pretty noticeable when I’m on the accelator after being stopped. A lot smoother on the 89 than the 87 and no, I don’t floor it, just normal acceleration.

They do not produce it. The gas pumps mix the high and low to create a mid.

Because it's not a separate fuel.
We only had three tanks when I worked at shell. A diesel a 93 octane and a 87. The 89 was fuel from both the other gasoline tanks.

Fairly certain my wife's Infiniti doesn't require anything above 87, but recommends 93. So by that logic, it'll run on anything and maybe someone wants to meet half way?
