No — there is no scientific evidence that the Earth was ever completely flooded due to an ice melting event or any other cause.
maybe not the entire Earth, but an area large enough for the people of the era to honestly believe it was the entire Earth
And really, it doesn’t have to be that large of an area to fit that description.
it’s not really that hard to fathom that a man built a big arse boat, put his family and some animals. not 2 of every animal on the actual planet, but 2 of the animals that were known to the area (which would have been a pretty small number compared to what we know today) and floated through a flood?

quote:yeah the Bible gives zero indication that the story didn’t happen or was only a parable. It clearly says Noah was a real person so if you believe the Bible is true it’s hard for me to see how you wouldn’t believe the flood really happened and that it is possible for the God who created the entire universe to make something like that happen. But like you said everyone is free to believe how they wish
If a person believes in God that can speak the universe into existence then they have no problem believing he could fit whatever he wanted in a boat of any size. If you don’t believe then it makes no sense to you and you can’t comprehend it. We are free to believe however we wish. I choose God but you don’t have to. Faith or not is the determining factor.

Good lord people, I'm still shocked that any rational, thinking person with an IQ over 100 could actually believe that something like this story could have actually happened. In so many ways it's just ludicrous.
So you’re saying every civilization in the world got together back then and came up with the story just to teach a lesson?
Because ancient Asia, Middle East, Europe and even native Americans have stories of a great deluge.

This. Same applies to evolution and various other scientific theories that some religious groups claim are anti-God.

lol? It’s a parable. It didn’t happen.

Wouldn’t they all have died in the flood? How do they have stories too?

Hell if I know but they do have stories of a great deluge… maybe not everyone was killed like in the story of Noah but a great flood did happen.

All of those stories come from different times.
There is absolutely no evidence, ever, of a worldwide flood. It’s actually completely impossible.
They are stories written to explain God to illiterate desert nomads.

You do know the story of Noah's Ark was borrowed from other texts?
Did Squirrelmeister create an alter?

I didn’t know Noah was dated… if they are stories like you say then how do you know when they happened.
Think what you want but when the whole world has a story of a great flood from people who are no way connected there is something to that.
It’s okay if something from the Bible is true.

So the dinosaurs and dodo birds?

I think that's the place they covered in Unsolved Mysteries, season 4, 1987

There are much older and strikingly similar stories to Noah's. If you believe Noah's do you also believe the earlier stories are true or do you consider them myths?

I seent it on one of my movie channels.

They did not do it “back then”
Every single flood myth comes from different times.
I have some news for you: it’s because they had massive floods in their region which was the entire world to them. So they wrote stories about it.

Most of these stories can be traced back to approximate eras. They aren’t the same.
There is zero evidence of a worldwide flood. It is scientifically impossible for many many many reasons

Sure. There are many things in the Bible I believe to be ”true”.
Noah’s Ark, as “written” in the Bible, did not happen. There absolutely was no worldwide flood. That is a scientific fact.

Maybe someone should start a separate thread on the onset of the Holocene Epoch.

The myth of Noah's Ark was plagiarized from at least 2 other sources 100s of years before it appeared in any Christian context
Everyone currently on earth is a descendant of the people in the arc. Of course everyone has a flood story. Their ancestors lived it.
