Last I checked hazing was illegal.

Why does everyone have it out for Greek organizations? Even before all of this SAE stuff happened. No one is forcing pledges to join or stay, they can come and go as they please, and they often do. Yet, everyone hates fraternities and sororities. Why do they give a frick?

It's a university-recognized organization, and the activity takes place on university property. The university gets to set the ground rules. If they can't abide by them, they can move off campus and become an unsanctioned chapter. No one does this because it's nearly impossible to have a viable chapter without the substantial benefits that accrue from university recognition.
I'm a Greek alum, but you guys have to recognize that you don't hold any cards here. You can abide by the rules the university sets, or not. There's no law that says LSU has to have a Greek system. Plenty of universities get by just fine without them.
