Many Americans are for abolishing jail for minor drug offenses.

Leaving confiscation and fines in place keeps the revenue rolling in and keeps New Orleans finest with proper stashes.

It also frees up cots in the OPP for violent criminals.

Actually, no. They can charge you with what they want but the DA will decide how to prosecute. If he decides that only the local ordinance will be charged in Orleans then that is what will be written up.
