Nissan will stop Altima production in 2025…..will the roads be safer?

The Nissan Altima is often the butt of the joke. It's a default budget used car, often seen poorly maintained and even more poorly driven. Now, though, its days may be numbered as a new report suggests Nissan will soon drop the long-running midsize sedan from its lineup.
News of Altima's planned demise comes from Automotive News, as part of the outlet's ongoing survey of future product pipelines based on intel from suppliers and other sources. Nissan is expected to end production of the Altima in 2025 with no direct replacement on the horizon. The Altima will follow in the footsteps of the Nissan Maxima in this regard, which will itself end production this year. Automotive News also says Nissan will launch a new unnamed electric sedan in 2026, but there's no indication it will carry on the Altima nameplate.

With that and the discontinuation of the Charger, insurance rates should plummet.

All these companies are run by idiots. The smart ones will keep their flagship ICE sedans and they will sell like crazy because nobody wants or can afford the EV sedan

They cant
They dont want to sell EVs but the ridiculous govt MPG requirements are forcing them to replace ICE sedans with EVs so they can continue selling the ICE SUVs and trucks consumers actually want

Nissan Altima is basically the Ford Pinto of the 21st century

My wife has one of these. It predates me being in her life.
Having said that, she curbs checks things, hits buggies, deer, coons, poles, god knows what else. 10 minutes after I clean it, it seems to grow 30lbs of unopened mail in the floorboards.
It has scratches on every single panel.
I change the oil every 10k miles. Change the air filter once a year. And that's it.
And at 71 mph on the hwy, it will still somehow manage 41 mpg with no attempts at hyper miling or saving fuel.
I've gotten over 50 mpg on a few trips with it.
With 160k on the clock, we are basically just waiting for it to die before getting her a highlander, pathfinder, or gx.
The problem is it shows zero issues.

Your wife sounds F+ quality. Which I’m sure some guys in the neighborhood would agree with, for different definitions of the grade

I bought my daughter one last November. Her beater gave up the ghost while finishing college. I usually wait until they graduate but had to pull the trigger fast because she was 600 miles away.
Inventory was crap and it seemed to be a decnt price. So far so good. The car only has about 6,000 miles on it but we are pleased. It rides a little rough but the life expectancy of these cars is pretty good.
I was hoping to get her in a Camry but none were available FWIW.

Bought my wife a new Altima in 2010.
It had just shy of 160,000 miles on it when we sold it. Zero issues with it in that time.
One of the best vehicles I ever owned.
