If you go download the original, full resolution photo, it's much more impressive. The compressed version on most news stories doesn't convey how impressive the resolution is.

Not only that, but he downplayed the information because the base is located in the interior of Antarctica furthest away from any ocean, yet his original complaint was no one had traversed far within the interior of said continent. I mean, I gave the perfect example.
