i still don't get that many shots for that situation.. oh well.

i understand he stabbed someone, but had he not and if he had some sort of disorder.. i wish there was some other alternative not quite so fatal

oh well

Story says they tried a couple non lethal options first, but guy kept getting up and wouldn't drop knife.

SF is a crime-ridden city and it's only getting worse. The amount of money flowing through there has attracted the scum of the earth as well as tech nerds.

Jesus. Couldn't a taser have done the trick here? I mean the cop in the foreground walked to his left to get in the guys way, it is not like he was running at the cop.

ETA, didn't read this:

Right. Because what they should have done is let the crazy guy with the knife walk by and over to the bus where they guy was filming. Maybe after he then stabbed six or seven other people they could leap into action with some kind words and the offer of a bottle of water.

Do people actually think before they post opinions of how these situations should be handled? Think for two seconds. The guy is armed with a knife, has just stabbed one person, has proven impervious to less lethal means of control and is attempting to get away from the officers. Do you stop him or let him go? Quick. Answer this in a split second the way the officers on the scene had to. BTW, if you say you should use your Kung Fu skills to kick the knife out of his hands - do us all a favor and stab yourself in the neck.

I'll never understand why people are bothered by the number of bullets the cops use. They are trying to kill the person. What's the difference between one or 500 bullets?

Supposedly he got shot. Could have been someone banging on the wall of the bus. Video shows nothing.

People think all policeman are snipers, and they should be able to subdue a suspect with one perfectly placed bullet to the big toe.

So you acknowledge you were wrong with your knee jerk reaction but then still leave your knee jerk comment on your post after you edit to say you didn't read the entire article before you jumped to conclusions??

simply for the video clip, he looks mentally unstable and maybe homeless. Seems like they could have used a taser or something less lethal. He wasn't exactly threatening looking. On the other hand, I'd much rather the police be safe than sorry. No reason to jeopardize a police officer's life for some murderer.
