Also, Sweden has 5.743 deaths in a population of 10.1 million. That’s is over .05% of their population dying.

But it’s over there. Other countries still have to get over it. OF COURSE Sweden had more deaths than if they had cowered. But they would still be cowering. Eventually economic necessity forces us to quit cowering. Then we pay the piper - all of us - except Sweden.

It just as over in Sweden as it is in their neighbors who did shut down and had 1/10th the deaths.

It’s neighbors Finland and Norway are also doing great after shutting down and having significantly less cases and deaths.

Also, Sweden has 5.743 deaths in a population of 10.1 million. That’s is over .05% of their population dying.

Which is pretty bad compared to their neighbors and is one of the highest death rates in the world.

Yeah, it's obviously biased to only compare Sweden to UK, France and Germany while completely ignoring the much more like-to-like comparisons of Denmark and Norway

Denmark and Norway's shut downs seemed to help them avoided Sweden's death rate as they only have around 800 total combined deaths to Sweden's 5700.

That's a reduction in death rate of 85%!

The upshot though is that these are extremely healthy countries compared to the USA with excellent preventative health care for all their citizens.

They also have a lot higher percentage of people that took common sense measures to prevent spread even when the governments did not mandate them and numerous social programs (like guaranteed paid sick leave) that made people more likely to voluntarily quarantine.

No way to make much of a n argument that what could work in Sweden would work here since we couldn't even make the lock downs and re-openings work like Denmark and Norway did.

I also trust Sweden a lot more to do the little things than Florida

We just watched half a baseball team get infected at a strip club.

I probably would agree that there isn’t a one size fits all approach to this, but People need to look at comparable countries when discussing Sweden, and they don’t.
