being in the water like that it may have looked like he was pushing buoy away or was just having trouble grabbing it

I just saw the video - he JUMPED.
was it quiet, then a quick jump not realizing he in video….
or
were kids cheering, daring him to do it, and he’s aware of situation?

Do the people saying they would never allow their kids to go to something like this realize these kids are going to be in college (or military) in about two months living life as adults?
"living life as adults" is generous. 18-25 year olds are still largely old enough to know better but too young to care.

What do you think? It wasn't quiet. Tons of iPhones shooting video.

No link but apparently the body has been discovered. So sad.

I truly believe kids these days should be given more freedom earlier.
Agree 100% Kids need to get hurt, break bones, get scars and parents need to let them learn that actions have consequences. Not saying this was the case in this situation, but in just in general. I always told my kid, if you're gonna be dumb you better be tough.
I truly feel terrible for this boy's family.

It happened in 2009 to a kid from STA in Hammond. No phones or insta. But yes alcohol.

I saw a video and he didn't look like he was in trouble. Just swimming around and then started getting pulled off to the right. I only saw about 20 seconds though.

In the military it's three months of pretty intense training before they trust you to dress yourself and make your bed without supervision. And six months or more before they trust you to actually do anything important. Even then, junior enlisted do stupid shite so often that it's a meme.
As for college, tragedies involving college students are almost a weekly occurrence.
I'm not saying helicopter parents are doing it right but turning a kid loose at 18 comes with legitimate worries.

Senior trips to the beach where the chaperone parents get wasted with the 17 and 18 year old kids are so trashy.
The proliferation of these trips is nuts. I really don't understand it. Graduating high school warrants a nice dinner and that's about it.

Drunk teenage and college kids have been doing stupid look at me shite long before the cell phone was invented.
Spring Break in the 90s was lit with stupid shite

Exactly. Now take that and add in Insta, cell phone videos and you have the perfect storm.
Thank God, there were no cell phones in the 80's & 90's.

Is anyone going to post the video. Half apparently have seen it and have different interpretations.
