According to survey of adults 18-39, 23% said they believed the Holocaust was a myth, had been exaggerated or they weren’t sure

That sounds incredibly hard to believe when I was in school we learned about the Holocaust pretty much every year.
And as recently as February '20 every local private school's 8th grade classes took Washington DC trips with the Holocaust museum as a main attraction.

Those classes study WW2/Nazi Regime/Holocaust extensively before they make their annual trip.

I believe it. I was on a road trip with two of my buddies a while back. Both are college graduates in their 40s. Somehow the subject of WW2 comes up so I asked them if they knew how many people died, in total, during the war. Their answer was 24-25 thousand. Needless to say I was shocked.

Right that’s why I’m saying. I know it’s in the millions, but if someone held a gun to me and demanded how many millions , I probably would have guessed 5 million.

To group folks like myself and others who couldn’t directly name “6 million” seems disingenuous to lump us into a 2/3’s group with people guessing 10,000.

Edit: Ahhh ok. I clicked the link. So it was like a multiple choice survey. Then that’s fair. I would have circled 6 million on that form.

That’s the context I was looking for . Thanks

But 40% of those surveyed in this study did not. That's what I'm saying.

Almost a quarter of respondents (23%) said they believed the Holocaust was a myth, or had been exaggerated, or they weren’t sure.

They might be surprised to learn that they align with a lot of white supremacy groups here

Talk about one hell of a depressing place, but necessary.

My wife works at a high school in LP and she was shocked at how many of the students didn't know anything about 9/11.

It's by design, just as is their unawareness to all the dead skulls and bones stacked by Communist and Socialist countries and their dictators, domestic and foreign over the last 120+ years..

It doesn't fit the narrative and agendas they are pushing..

Let their indoctrinations be easily digestable and palatable..and unquestioned.

This fits in with my feeling that we are a transitional generation, that we are getting further & further away from we have come to know as normal & accepted. With the trash that is being taught to our children, starting in elementary schools, by the time that those children grown into adults, our world will not even register in their conscious. I thank God every day that my sons are educating my grandchildren properly & honestly.

Someone posted a poll that showed 33% of voters believe all the recent riots and civil unrest are caused by right wing extremists.

After seeing that, nothing really shocks me. Our country is fricked.

I have a hard time believing those numbers because of all the half-years we spent on Holocaust training in grade school.

This must be why they mindlessly chant that Trump is worse than Hitler

What do you expect when the MSM is beating this drum 24/7?

This is why removing statues scares me. It’s whitewashing history. They already don’t know their history. Not on top of not knowing it, the only things alluding to it are being removed also. History is bound to repeat itself if you don’t learn from it. They haven’t learned it.

Allies were cool with the Soviets. All the sides were varying shades of crap. But, there can be only one victor.

This is one of the major tenets of marxism. History doesn't start until the Revolution. Anything that came before must be destroyed.

The 6 million number isn’t a precise number by any means. If you look at any major act of genocide or mass atrocity there is almost always a wide variety on the estimates of death. The rape of Nanking is a great example of this with the estimates being very different based on who the figure comes from. Not downplaying the Holocaust at all by the way

Can we get a little more context here?

Yes I am very familiar with the Holocaust. I am aware of the atrocities and that millions of Jews were killed, as I’m sure most are aside from deniers.

But I mean I don’t know that I would have pulled the actual number of “6 million” right off the top of my head. I probably would have guessed around 5 million.

So does that place me in the group of “two-thirds unaware 6 million Jews were killed during the Holocaust”?

That's what I'm wondering as well. At the school I work with, we have an elective class that specifically focuses on the Holocaust (and that teacher coordinates with others in the district also teaching the same course). All of our World History classes that cover that time period actively teach it as well. The Diary of Anne Frank is still read in age appropriate English classes. And yes, this is in public school.

So I'm wondering if its just that they simply couldn't accurately guess the "6 million" because I know I couldn't hit it on the nose but have a general idea.
