But the deaths the first year or so would have absolutely been an outlier for modern America
Right
Even if you think the whole thing is overblown, there are hundred of thousands of extra American deaths to account for in that exact time frame
Tough to explain that one away, even with the thickest of tin foil hats

Treating a 0.7-0.8% IFR disease as the black plague was a joke.
And we knew early on that the death rate was around that.
More importantly, Covid was different than other novel respiratory viruses in that it was mainly a pain for old people on their last legs.
Things like Black Death, Spanish flu, polio, etc were dangerous for everyone
Not all deaths are the same
A 20 year old student dying of Spanish flu is terrible
A 98 year old woman with dementia in a nursing home, with every medical issue under the sun inflicting her, costing the state hundreds of thousands a month in Medicaid, dying of Covid is more of a shrug your shoulders thing

But that’s still a 600% increase from the IFR of the flu
With a population starting with ZERO COVID 19 immunity, that is going to be a bad bad bad dark year. Not just a “bad flu season” type of year
Even with ZERO politicization of COVID-19 it would have been a landmark textbook historic event for this country

For much of American history, people dropped dead left and right of diarrhea, malaria, TB, cholera, typhoid, yellow fever, TB, etc
Nobody regarded it as history in the making, they regarded it as just a day that ends in y

True. We never talk about that flu thing in early 1900s. What’s it called again? The Mexican flu? See I can’t even remember it

Yeh, also those things are actively covered in American history textbooks too because they were also a big deal

At the beginning they had dudes wearing 3XL Magellan shirts getting admitted to the hospital every day but now it was all a hoax
Posted on 8/10/26 at 8:36 pm to Ingeniero
Dude it’s no big deal it only effected overweight people
Also of note
Over 50% of Americans are overweight

You do realize we have actual robust data now showing Covid deaths were overwhelmingly the weak, the old, the frail, and the morbidly obese.
The IFR of Hong Kong flu, which hit America in 1956, was *higher* than COVID among the young and middle aged.
COVID’s IFR was only higher than most other bad flu outbreaks in American history because of old people

So near nil chance of a pregnant woman having side effects made you start this thread, but now you are arguing this?
The IFR was far worse for the average person than the vax was for pregnant women.

I was about to type something but you’re actually too stupid to understand my point.
As in you genuinely don’t have the capabilities.
