Go ahead and round it up to an even $100. Might as well shut the lights off, won't be anyone left to pay it to.

I’d imagine most workers in New York are already at least in the $20s

Imagine the immigrant children who will have to quit school to tend the family business because mom and dad can no longer afford to hire help.

That is, it mom and dad are able to keep a shop at all.

Populist policy meant to cater to the lowest common denominator of voters. Policy makers also know that these voters don't understand or don't care.

The raising of the minimum wage in this method only leads to the increase in unemployment and the increase of goods and services sold. The only thing that happens here is that business owners are going to pass all of those costs on to their customers and reduce costs by reducing staff.

Agreed. I hope this passes just so they can realize and understand* how stupid they are when everything falls apart and businesses peace out in droves.

They will just blame it on something other than themselves like they always do.

Lefty New York City Council members proposed a record-breaking $30-per-hour minimum wage bill Tuesday – a measure that could nearly double the Big Apple’s current baseline pay of $17.
Why stop there? Why not $50 an hour?

Their next step will be to fine any business for trying to use AI or a kiosk, fine any business that leaves the city, or propose just taking the business

Minimum wage should be outlawed.

Pay people according to their skills.

I'm old enough to remember when suggesting even more outrageous mun wage laws was a jest at the now failed $15/hour idea.

Are dems basing policy on the the right's satire?

They're doing it all wrong. It should be based on race.
