How about the state senator contact the geniuses who built the bridge going to Fourchon and ask ther opinion on how to fix the congestion?

How does the Fourchon bridge relate to the congestion in Baton Rouge?

Most ridiculous road/bridge I’ve ever seen.
And it was a joke.

Have you ever researched the role that Port Fourchon plays in the oil and gas production in the Gulf? Have you ever seen what happens to the old LA 1 roadway when a hurricane even enters the Gulf?

It's a Louisiana thing....bridge, we don't need no bridge for no commerce and I'm sure as hell not paying for it. I already pay too damned much.

I'm pissed hat my refund check arrived late

That's the Louisiana way

The St. Francisville bridge was decided back in 1991. It was used to get THE last vote needed for the riverboat casinos in LA to pass. That's politics for you.

I would happily donate $1,000 if I knew it would go towards building a bridge.

What about the 20k cars that come through every 24hrs and make them pay 2 bucks for the entire length?

Tolls will probably have to happen. Maybe they can stick a rail line on it and get federal funding to supplement whatever the state/local dollars put up. I'd guess that 60k cars on a bridge at Plaquemine Point connecting LA 30 to I-10 would be a very light day.

I think I read that they will choose a site by this summer. Maybe Kingbob or MikeBR knows more?

BTW, they could have built 3 Audubon Bridges for what it costs to add a lane to the Huey Long bridge in New Orleans. Something to keep in mind when complaining about wreckless spending of state dollars.

It was Act 16 of the 1989 Legislative session.

Depending on the placement, you could knock out a new bridge and an I-10 bypass in one project.

Speaking of BR's shitty traffic, I just traveled I-85 through GA and SC where big rigs are required by law to stay out of the left lane. It's like heaven. I probable averaged 10-15 mph more on those areas than normal. We could do that state wide without having to built a single piece of infrastructure

Why are these 4 parishes targets for a tax?

Put an electric toll and a dedicated access lane on that bitch and make money.

How are you going to do that? Most of the interstate is only 2 lanes.
