“Virtually nowhere in America do black boys grow up to earn incomes equivalent to white boys raised in the same neighborhoods by parents with comparable wealth and education levels, according to a study released Monday that followed millions of children now in their late 30s or turning 40.

The disparity holds true even for black boys raised in the wealthiest of families, who grew up on the same block in the same affluent community and attended the same school as their white counterparts. The findings shows that race -- not just parental income or neighborhood opportunities -- factors into the yawning wealth gap between blacks and whites in America.“

Are they saying black men make worse life choices? That seems racist.

What does it matter what street they grew up on?

Did one have both parents at home and the other a single parent? Did their parents stress school work?

Which one got a HS diploma? A college degree?

Are we talking kids on the same street with EVERYTHING being exactly the same except race?

What a dumbass point "the same street".

So

If white man has an engineering degree, and the black man on the same street has an english degree, we are supposed to act like this should be compared?

buried in the middle of the article

the researchers do not have a clear answer.

so why write the article?

In addition to income, black boys were more likely to be incarcerated and less likely to attend college than their white counterparts from families of similar income level.

well hey maybe this is something they should have noticed.

This terrible form of insitutional racism even extends to school testing, where black children from high income families test about the same on the SATs as white and Asian children from lower quintiles.

People don't want equal opportunity, they want equal results.

That's impossible because people are just different. Color has nothing to do with it.

So a group more likely to have a criminal record, and less likely to have higher educations, earns less income on average......

BUT, BUT, BUT they grew up on the same street!!!!!

How the frick was this a study?

In fact, if you're black, the richer your parents are, the less likely you will be to earn as much as the white boy down the block.
