At 40 years old, I make more than any of my parents ever made at any point in their lives. Now, I don't know how my salary compares to my white counterpart though. Everyone is so damn secretive with their salary information.

Funny how the article didn't mention the fact that the study showed that Asian Americans have a similar upward mobility as white people and that Hispanic Americans have an increasing upward mobility that is slightly below white people. Does racism explain that too?

The study was conducted by The Equality of Opportunity Project. A bunch of white liberals from Harvard, Stanford and UC-Berkeley, and was funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Kellogg Foundation, and Stanford University.

I skimmed some of the study. Just some interesting things I see immediately. According to this study, higher rates of upward mobility for black boys and relatively small black-white gaps are correlated with 3 factors: low poverty rates, low levels of racial bias among whites, and high rates of father presence among blacks.
Low poverty rates and father presence are obvious factors and can be easily measured.
But, how do you exactly measure racial bias? Well they used two main measurements: 1) implicit racial bias and 2) google searches for racial epithets
They also used a 3rd factor in determining racial bias which they only speak of in the footnotes and is based on: "attitudes regarding interracial marriage in the General Social Survey, as constructed by Mas and Moretti (2009)"... aka a survey that is almost 10 years old.

I’m a teacher and make exactly the same as anyone who’s been teaching/coaching the same amount of time in my parish. It doesn’t matter if they’re male or female black or white.

Did they look at IQ? It's a fact that on average black men have a much lower IQ. I'd like to see a study of earnings of the 2 when they both have a comparable IQ because the higher the IQ the better a person is at management and problem solving.
