"new" study? Pretty sure they've been saying drinking is bad since Jesus changed water to wine.

Even worse, it's a risk factor for banging ugly women.

I did a study, if I quit drinking there is a 100% chance I will die.

And in other news, driving increases your risk of dying in a car crash.
Sex increases your risk of STDs and pregnancy.
Loving people or pets increases your risk of sadness when they die.
Breathing increases your risk of airborne disease.

If they die before 65 it saves a ton in SS and Medicare expenses.

My grandpa in Costa Rica is 107 years old and he drinks two glasses a day of whisky, rum, or bacardi. He swears that is what keeping him going.

I've learned a lot from reading the health and fitness board. First, this study is probably funded by Big Water and the "science" is junk. Second, the only reason liquor drinks are dangerous is b/c of carbs and sugar. Finally, no need to sweat it if you are a drinker. Switch to an all meat diet--it will reverse the damage and restore health.

Bring on the edibles then

These relative risk estimates corresponded to a combined study population of 28 million individuals and 649 000 registered cases of respective outcomes
Your absolute risk is 2.3% of drinking alcohol with all degrees of intake involved. I was going to go into all the different levels, but I don't want to take the time. With alcohol, the dose makes the poison. However, I suspect the dose is much, much higher than we imagine. RR's of 2-3 equal what....9-15 drinks daily according to their graph. That's insane considering 2-3 is when we start wondering if the event (drinking alcohol) is causing anything. There are other studies out there showing the RR going down for ~1-3 daily drinks. I think the reason being is those drinks reduce stress without really messing the body up - especially dry red wine. Someone else could go into the beer-wine-spirit differences.
*thanks HC

Alcohol damaged a lot of my long term memories and concentration. However, years after recovery it's like my mind has been reset and I'm a different person. I wouldn't trade the experience for anything.
