Heading into town staying at the cook on campus for a quickie Fri,Sat,Sun. Daughter is heading into Freshman year @ LSU and new student admission day on Sat. Which happens to coincide with the beginning of #48 orbit. Looking for a great place to eat and celebrate class of 2023 kiddo and the big 47 ! .

Chimes or Ruth’s

Depends of your definition, tastes and budget.

Your daughter went to High School in California?

She will experience a bit of a culcha shock at LSU.

Tell her to make sure she spends a lot of time on the Quad.

Decent seafood, and drinks. Birthday means Lets F'n party. Budget ?? ... it is what it is.

Weather forecast to be in the crapper, so something close is always good.

French Market Bistro or Parrians are reasonably close to LSU. Parrians is slightly more casual but good.

We have a spirit club for incoming students.

Ask her to add newschemers to her Snapchat and introduce herself.

The Cook Hotel has a pretty good free breakfast, complete with LSU waffles. For lunch or dinner, Superior Grill never disappoints. Back in the day, Arzi’s on Nicholson was great for Greek and Lebanese food (not sure if it is still there), and you could get a delicious pressed po-boy from American Market on Nicholson (if it is still there). When my husband and I were at LSU back in the 1990’s, we loved those dining spots. Does anyone know if the Silver Moon Cafe (behind the tracks) is still in business? Their plate lunches were amazing, even if the atmosphere was humble.

My daughter’s also an incoming freshman this fall (no pics), and we always stay at the Cook Hotel when we visit.

ETA: Agree with a previous poster that Parrain’s is good. Our family also likes the Rum House on Perkins. Our daughter Caroline likes Ichiban for sushi on a budget.

She might know the culture, but that’s not the culcha.

There’s a major difference.
