She must be retarded. This shite would have to be in a liberal utopia or a decent sized city to not be a complete failure. No normal person wants to see this kind of shite. Probably more than 50 percent of liberals don't want to see this shite directly, but will support it for some stupid arse reason.

I think some of this is manufactured controversy.

A good bit of the local boujiee crowd will go to the drag show, have mimosas, and think it’s hilarious. It will be a big day for her business.

The real problem with that diner is the other 364 days of the year when it has almost the same menu as two other very good restaurants within walking distance. It’s a good restaurant…but it wouldn’t stand out at all if not for this controversy.

The Signature Southern Bistro is a restaurant on Main Street in New Roads. The business has been very successful, but that all changed when a flier came out roughly a month ago promoting an upcoming drag brunch at the restaurant.

Susan Smith Early says she thought the drag brunch would be a good idea, but she's received tons of backlash.

It sounds like she is talking out both ends of her mouth. Promoting, while playing the victim.

Yep, she is.

This is Susan. Susan, while a business owner, appears to not be bright.

I think they are doing this for the publicity.

But that doesn’t make sense when the publicity you receive will be because people hate you or your business is failing/closing.

This is a case where “no publicity is bad publicity” simply isn’t true for the most part.

Forget that New Roads is old school. Where are these people coming from, to book an event in New Roads? Do they live there?

From a business perspective, she should have rented out the space, been closed for brunch, not advertised and let they/them do their thing. Word would have spread, of course, it's a small town.

I honestly have no problem with drag brunches as long as children are not allowed.

If it’s all adults who agree who cares?

If there are children allowed they should be all arrested.

I agree. What she said in the news media, and what she says on her FB page, appear to be two different things.

Starbucks, Chick Fil A, and McDonalds all invented or fueled controversial situations so people talk about them on social media and visit their stores.

It’s the Donald Trump model and it’s cheaper than paying for advertising.

I think that’s what’s happening here. And I can respect that as a capitalist.

It’s 21 and older only. I don’t have a problem with it at all if a bunch of women want to go have a few laughs. The restaurant should do what it has to do in order to stand out. And either reap the rewards or face the consequences.

With the exception of McDonald's, and this was long before social media was ever a thing, Chick-fil-A and Starbucks aren't present in New Roads, La.

And if they brought controversy, you can bet they weren't doing it in a small, rural Louisiana town with conservative values.

As s business owner, she certainly has that right. But she created a business to solve a problem -- perhaps New Roads was lacking in good, served from scratch home cooked food and her business was formed.

I don't think New Roads was lacking or ever requested drag queen brunches. There is a difference.

Is WBRZ going to do a follow-up in 9 to 12 months if her business closes down because of her mindful and stupid decision?

I think the restaurant was heading that direction before the drag show was even planned.

She'll probably get people from all over to come to the event to support her then they'll never come back, as won't the locals. Pyrrhic victory at best.

Extremely stupid move doing this in probably the most conservative city in the entire state. That place will go out of business VERY soon if it hasn't already and they 100% deserve it.
