In 1815, sure, but that takes a few minutes to travel now.

These commute times are screwy. I live on one side of Metairie, and can make it to Poydras in 5 minutes, and my parents live on the other side and can make it in 12.

Add an extra 5 for morning commutes

Where is the neighborhood they call Elmwood? I thought Elmwood was light industrial/commercial.

Yeah

Im thinking they classified Old Jefferson as Elmwood

Growing up, Elmwood was always that area between West Esplanade, the Canal, Vintage and Power.

Your hard on for shitting on Metairie is just laughable at this point. Old Meterie is one of the best places to live in the area. Fact. It is one of the safest places to live. Fact. Very little crime happens here. Fact.

Yea some areas of Metairie are trash, but this isn't one of them. And from what I've seen living here is that we are minutely affected by any trash.

I got a good chuckle. Pretty sure 70124 is the 3rd sought after zip code in the entire country for real estate so it must be doing something right.

I grew up in north Kenner. It's inconvenient as frick looking back on it I didn't think so at the time but it's way out the way comparatively speaking. But the neighborhoods around where I grew up are nice, so it was worth it.

I was confused at this too because on the site it describes elmwood as (Enjoy shopping at big name retailers at the conveniently located Elmwood Shopping Center, or grab a bite to eat at Theo’s Neighborhood Pizza or Japanese restaurant Kyoto Two.
Outdoor recreation enthusiasts will love Elmwood’s section of the Mississippi River Trail, which offers scenic views, hiking and biking trails, and boating.) I know all the places they describing are next to me in harahan. That really does sound to me like old jefferson where i grew up. I always associated vintage and power with kennabra. Jacked up to see harahan number 1 for property purposes!

These commute ranks are all jacked up as well, Boutte has a commute rank of 3 as well as Hammond. I assume this is average commute for resident and most people in Hammond and Boutte don't commute, because it is too damn far.

I can pretty much guarantee that the commute time for Boutte is due to those with jobs working pretty close to home. Not because it's too far, but because the average Boutte resident is pretty unskilled (in my guess). I'm 5 minutes up 90 towards Jefferson Parish and it takes me about 40 minutes to get into my downtown garage. Most living in Boutte are working in Boutte (along highway 90) or probably just hop the Hale Boggs bridge to Destrehan and Norco.

Average commute time is a metric that never really made sense to me. Commute time is too highly specific to an individual's situation.
